Products I loved in the month of November!

So December is here and holidays season is in full swing! The weather is heating up, the bbq's are coming out and its time to dust of the swimsuit because a hot summer Christmas is on its way!

FACE

First cab off the rank is this stuff! I'm sure you've heard of products like this (if not this one) before. This is the best makeup remover I've ever used! This doesn't break me out, it takes all my makeup off - including mascara and liquid eyeliner, without rubbing hard at my eyes. I have nothing bad to say about this product. Also a bit of a bonus is that this makes a really great brush cleaner. The reason cleansing waters are so great is because the active ingredient is (obviously) like that of makeup remover wipes etc but this chemicals in this product are in their whole form, they're not broken down, hence their more efficient. The molecules cling to the makeup and when you wipe down your face, they take the makeup with them. Its  more concentrated. Bottom line - Buy this. You won't be sorry. 

LIPS

My second favourite for the month is one of the 'Velourlips - matte lip cream' by 'Australis' this one in particular is in the shade 'MI-A-MEE'. Now I've talked about this product a heap and they're honestly so great. I'm really loving the whole 'liquid lipstick' 'trend' or whatever it is. There are some absolutely great products and this is one of them. This one is a really nice watermelon colour and it is surprisingly wearable! It makes me think of tropical punch and sunbeds by the pool. Its the perfect colour for summer!

EYES

Well here's a surprise! (not) I've raved about this bad boy ever since I got it and I've used it so much this past month! I've done the 'suggested' looks, and even mixed and matched my some of my own. I won't go into too much detail on this product because all you have to do is scroll down and you'll see how much I love this palette and the other 'Models Prefer' palettes. This palette has some really good shades for some nice shimmery 'holiday' looks. This has been my 'go-to' palette this month, I haven't really been reaching for anything else and it'll come with me when I travel next week! The packaging is sturdy and the mirror is amazing! good size and good quality! To say I love this product is an understatement - I'd go more along the lines of 'obsessed with!'

HAIR

And last but not least is a spray - leave in conditioner by schwartzkopf. I've been on the market for a good leave in conditioner for a long time now and I just haven't found any that really interest me. Then I stumbled upon this one. It says on the packaging "Voluptuous volume & express detangling" and that is honestly all I was after (well mainly the detangling - the added volume is an added plus!) it says for 'Fine, Flat Hair' my hair is quite very fine, and there is also a lot of it, which makes it quite heavy and it can tend to be quite flat - but honestly it isn't one of my main concerns when it comes to my hair. My main concerns are dryness, breakage and tangles. Because my hair is so long and fine/thin it tangles SO easily. Not a day goes by when I don't spend at least 20minutes just trying to detangle my hair - let along style. With this product, it cuts the brushing time down by half. I spray it directly in the trouble area - and then some directly on the ends of my hair then some generally all over my head (I don't use this product sparingly and it lasts quite a while) wait a few minutes and then start to brush the product through my hair and the tangles and they just detangle so much easier. I'm glad this particular product has Biotin because that is also good for your hair. If you're in the market for a leave in conditioner (that leaves your hair smelling nice too) I'd give this one a go. It was quite affordable and I expect at least three months usage out of this. (I'll let you know how long it lasts)

Priceline Haul!

40% off Cosmetics!

So Priceline are great in the fact that they have a lot of huge sales all year round. The last 40% off sale I took (major) advantage of was the 40% off all skincare - and let me tell you - no regrets were had. 

So when I found out about the 40% off ALL COSMETICS I couldn't not take advantage of it. So in the morning, I met my two good friends and favourite shopping babes in the city at 9:30am to get all the things! Here is what I got!

As you can see, there are quite a few things. I have no regrets on buying anything, and I picked up the brushes for an absolute steal! In this post I'll put in some swatches and first impressions too, along with the normal and sale prices. 

I'll start off with the brush set by Nude by Nature. The kit includes 7 brushes, a double barrel sharpener and comes in a nice zip up case with elastic brush holders.

There is no secret that I love the Models Prefer palettes. I have other posts on my blog here absolutely raving about them. So when I came across this little beauty, I couldn't resist. The one and ONLY bad thing I have to say about the MP palettes is: The matte shades just aren't up to scratch. The shimmer shades are fantastic! Such good pigmentation and colour pay off. But the mattes just aren't as good quality. Mattes are a hard thing to get right, and its not like they're useless, they just take some layering and some work to get them to be as good as they should be first off. 

This is the Warm Smokey / Brown Smokey palette.

Top Left: The mirror in this palette is amazing. Good size and quality, can definitely do a full face of makeup in this. 

Top right: The packaging on this is fantastic. The box it comes in shows you just what to expect and shows you ideas on how to use the palette in step by step instructions. The palette itself is sleek and made of a hard plastic, it feels like it could take a knock or two and is a good size for travelling. The lid as quite a good weight to it too. 

Bottom Left: The swatches - left column: There is a matte creamy/white shade, that on my skin just doesn't show up, it is poor quality but with some work and layering (I suggest using a primer) it will have more pay off - however in saying that, it does blend well with the other shimmer shades, so perhaps a test run of these eye looks are in order. The next shade down is a very pigmented cool toned gold, the colour pay off is excellent and it blends well. The last shade is a shimmer brown. Perfect for adding the smokey effect to the suggested look. 

Bottom Left: The swatches - Right column: Top colour is a shimmer peachy gold, very pretty and highly pigmented. The middle shade is a red/brown maroon/burgundy shade, how it is used in the suggested look is quite interesting and I'm very keen to do this look. The last shade on this side is a matte brown. It shows up on my hand well, but is still a bit chalky, however - it does blend well so experiments will have to be done. 

Bottom Right: Here I wanted to show the inside of the palette - the 6shades (and an eyeliner down the bottom - that I probably wouldn't use) and right next to the shade is the step by step of how to use the shades to accomplish the certain looks. I'm glad its included INSIDE the actual palette instead of just on the outside packaging. I hate it when you lose the packaging and then have no idea on how to do the looks. So GOOD ON YOU MODELS PREFER!

There is also no doubt that I love the Australis Velourlips range. I think I'm only a few away from completing the set. So when I saw these colours in Priceline, I thought 'WHY NOT?' Its coming up into the warmer months and these colours are perfect for spring!

I have never really gotten into the 'essence' brand. They're cheaply priced so I always assumed they were cheaply made and poor quality. I assumed they were aimed more at little girls who are first getting into makeup. This might be so, but lately I have been really liking coloured eye shadows, and have been drawn to this brand. These are two essence mini palettes each containing 6 shimmer shades. 

Left top and bottom: 'All About Candies' - beautiful pastel colours. Perfect for sprint

Right top and bottom: 'All about Nude' - gorgeous neutrals. Perfect for every day. I will definitely be doing some looks with these little gems.

This product had my friends and I baffled! Obviously it is L'OREAL'S take on the liquid matte lip product that so many brands are doing (such as Australis - Velourlips) But the description of the product had us thrown. Its one of the 'Glam Matte' (everything good so far) 'Intense Matte Gloss' (I'm sorry, what?)

We were all confused on how you can have a 'matte gloss' but never the less once one was swatched - I fell in love. This is in the colour/shade 513 'zip it rouge'. Sarah and I each purchased this shade, we took a risk because there was no tester for this one. But we're both so happy we did. I definitely want more of these. (probably in all the shades because I have to complete the set) But as they're on the pricier side - I'll wait until there is a sale - or slowly buy them.

I have really been getting more into nail art recently and for some reason I've been loving grey toned nails for sprint. Because in my opinion its the perfect colour to stand out against all the pastel pinks without being as harsh as a white. SO, I was on a mission (or so it would seem) I picked up 4 polishes all up. 3 grey tones and a base coat.

I love Sally Hansen polishes, OPI is such a fantastic brand and I've used many Bourjois products before and I'm really excited to try out the polishes.

I think this is the only reason why I needed to go into Priceline. I have been using this product ever since I can remember. 

I have quite dry skin so I can use a lot of cream products. This product is for 'oil and shine' control so I think it will be perfect for summer. In summer I don't like to use a lot of foundation so, I might change to a BB cream and use this too, then set with a translucent powder. But I'll save that for another post. 

This product is the 'MATTE UP Cream to Powder Foundation' in the shade 'Nude'.  I love australis products but I think they need to get a wider range of colours, even the nude (their lightest) is a bit too dark for me, but as its summer, I'll tend to tan.

This is the other reason I needed to go in, I needed an eyebrow pencil. 

This is just a basic pencil, its not the ones I usually use but it does the job. This is by the brand Savvy. 

I got a dark brown one, because thats my natural colour - side note: Finding the right shade of eyebrow 'filler' is important. Eyebrows really stand out on the face and its good to know that you're using the right colour!

The last items on my list are these three blushes. I've really been on a mission lately to expand my blush collection and I've heard rather good things about these. I have sworn by savvy matte lip creams and some of their other products, I've always walked up to the display and swatched their blushes but they've always been out of stock. So when I saw some in stock, I knew I had to get some! Swatches: Left to Right:

Makeup Inspiration

Dorothy - Wizard of Oz

In appreciation of the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, I decided to do my makeup inspired by it, one of my favorite movies.

Please excuse the poor iphone quality

 I took inspiration from Judy Garland, and adorned myself in white lace, and baby blue colours. I chose to do a striking red lip to compliment the colour used in the movies and to somehow pay homage to her gorgeous hair.

This is the look I came up with: Baby blue on the majority of the lid and a darker 'sky' blue on the outer corner, these colours represented Dorothy's dress and bow. I used almost a canary yellow gold colour on the inner corner of my eye to represent the 'Yellow Brick Road' that Dorothy has to walk down.  The red on my lips is a deep red matte lippy, this one is from the brand savvy and in the colour 'Miss Monroe', the colour is fitting, I chose this because I wanted an 'old hollywood' look.

Ice Blue: applied to majority of eyelid

Baby Blue: applied to outer corner of eyelid.

Yellow Gold: applied to inner corner.

I added this baby blue, bow headband and then put my hair into two loose french braids on either side of my head with a part going straight down the middle. I matched the blue colours of my eye make up with this.

I curled my lashes and then applied a coat of benefits 'They're Real' mascara (my current fave) and then applied some false lashes to the outter portion of my eye to give me the 'doe eyed, bambi' look that Dorothy has because she's just an innocent little girl, this was fun to play with. I also did a slight wingged eyeliner to add to the classic hollywood look I was going for.

Last but not least, you have to have the ruby slippers, and sadly mine aren't as glittery as the real ones, but these did the trick to complete the look.

I had a lot of fun, and might end up doing more makeup inspiration posts in the future, I forgot how much fun it is to play dress-ups and use colours.

This would be such a cute look for Halloween, its very easy and can be dressed up or down.

Makeup, Outfit and Mini Review

MOTD + OOTD

Hey, so here is another photo of my face, I'm about to tell you the things I have on it, so stay tuned if you're interested. 

Backstory:

Today is my 'lets leave the house and do things because I don't want to stay in the house and do all the things that I have to do' day. I have these often. 

So, I slapped a bunch of products on my face and with a sassy feeling and a strange yet familiar craving for sushi, I left the house. 

I don't really have a foundation 'routine' when I get one, I'll do a post on that. I feel like I don't know enough about foundations to really review them. (TBH I don't know enough about anything to really 'review' them)

Lets get into it. 

Outfit:

Don't mind the clothes all over the floor, they're just victims of the battle that is every day life. 

This is what I wore today. Pretty basic, but I liked it. 

Eyes:

Eyeliner and mascara are the same as usual, Bourjois products for both, there is another post describing them so I won't go into it. 

For eyeshadow, I did't want anything at all really, but I didn't want nothing, so I decided to use two products by ALMAY. Almay is a brand for sensitive skin, now my skin isn't super sensitive, but around my eye area it can be, also, I like these colours.

They're super sheer, but very pretty, I didn't use any primer, but when I do, the colours stand out more. 

The packaging is super cute, they're compact and portable, and I enjoy them.

Lips:

For lips today, because its nice and cold outside, I decided to go with a nice deep/dark red colour. Todays victim is by RIMMEL LONDON.  This is from the Moisture Renew range, I have a few from this range, and I'm quite happy with them. 

This particular one is in the shade 330 - 'Sloane's Plum' I'm not sure who Sloane is, but she has excellent taste in colour. 

The product stays true to its name, it is very moisturising. The product glides on very nicely and doesn't feel 'gloopy' like some lipsticks can. It has very nice coverage and lasts a while. I have had mine on 5ish hours, and in that time, I've been talking non stop, drinking (ice tea) and gorging myself on sushi and it seemed to last, It wasn't as vibrant, it did wear a bit, but the colour turned into more of a lip stain by the end of it. I don't mind when a product comes off after you've eaten something, its when it comes off for no reason at all, I have an issue. Another good thing was that whilst I was eating, the lipstick didn't turn grainy or anything from crumbs or food residue (one of my pet hates)

All in all, a good product, I can't remember how much it cost but knowing me, I probably got it on sale anyway.

Getting a tan..

Summer Tan?

Ok, in Australia right now its winter. -_- yay. BUT because I like to go against the grain, I put together a little group of things I love for the summer! Hopefully if someone reads this where the sun is out in full shine, it'll be some help or inspiration to you. What started this, I hear you all ask so eagerly.. Well, children, sit back and let me explain it to you..

I'm poor. The end. 

I'm poor, I need a job, I saw a place advertised at a store that sells handbags and purses etc, this store is one of my favourite places to get these such things and I've been shopping in these stores for years, so, I went in and applied. I was nervous and didn't want to burst in there all guns blazing and slam my resume down on the counter and demand they hire me… instead, I moseyed around the store a little looking at the purses. I've been wanting a new purse for a while now. So when I saw that this particular one was $24.00 down from $50.00 I thought, why not? So I went up to the counter bought it and casually enquired about the position and went from there..

The brand is MARIKAI and it is in the colour 'camel'. I fell in love with the gorgeous cutout 'lace' pattern on the front of it

One of the things I really like is the shape of it, whilst some people may think its bulky, I like it because it already has room for all that annoying change I'm going to inevitably accumulate. 

So this got me thinking, when I'd just walked out of the store with it, I thought, "hmm, its not a very winter looking purchase, now is it?!" (firstly, it totally is, you just have to style it right) and then THAT got me thinking, maybe I'll just put together a little summer mini accessories look book kinda thing and see what I come up with… so here it is.

Gold lacey cutout 'colar' necklace.

 These two necklaces, I love. I wear the top one all year round, because its gorgeous. The bottom one I mainly wear in summer though, I like to wear it with a blue 'tie die'-ish maxi dress with a lot of gold bangles and bracelets up my arm. I feel like if 'Esmerelda' from the 'Hunchback' was mixed with 'Helen of Troy'

I like summery, light weight, dangly bracelets as well as simple ones. My very talented mum, made this for me, and I can't wait until it is actually summer here for me to wear it. 

Gold pyramid studs.

These studs were in a pack of 6, I got them when I was in Barcelona I think. I bought them from Primark / Penny's and those stores are all over the world (except for Australia and it makes me so mad) These cute studs, because of the cut out in them, add a nice little bit of detail and brighten up what are basically, plain studs.

    The heart ring is one of those accent rings and I wear it on my     index finger. The other is a statement ring and I wear it on any finger really. It depends on if I have other jewellery. 

The title of this is called 'Getting a tan' because, thats generally what one does in summer, however, I do not tan very well, so instead of getting one from the sun, I go out and purchase many items of the tan colour and get me one that way. Such as this little bag. It did come with a detachable long strap, but I've taken it off for the white because I use this more as a little makeup bag at the moment rather than a handbag. Its great, cost me $20.00 from Kmart and its just what I need. 

 This next thing I also purchased yesterday and I think it is very good for summer, it is of course a candle. 

The scent, as you can see, is Lemongrass and Ginger. It smells divine! I picked it up from 'Spotlight' in the "homey, smelly, candley" section, for $19.00 I think, it is quite large and I cant wait to light it, at the moment I have it sitting in my room with the lid off as an 'air freshner' and it is doing the job just fine. Thats one of my favourite little life hacks. 

And last but not least for this little summery themed post is something that everyone needs! (especially if you're in Australia)

 Sunglasses! I picked these guys up when I was in Barcelona (it seems all I did there was shop). You can find this style of sunnies anywhere. They were very in-expensive but they do the job just fine!

So that brings me to the end of another post. Not sure what this one was really about, but hey, now you can see things that I have. Thats gotta count for something right?

Winter Colours!

Makeup Of The Day

 Hey! So, here is my face. I was having a good makeup day and an average hair day.

I love winter, I love coats, hot chocolates and dark lipstick. At the moment I've been going around buying every kind of purple tone or crimson red, and every shade in between lipstick I can get my hands on. 

Today, I was sporting defined brows, pale face (I don't tan), double winged liner, and some purple, berry lips. 

Eyes:

Double winged liner is one of my favourite looks, and its possibly my 'go to'. Its feminine and with the slight twist on the normal winged eye, its just the pop of detail I like. 

I use a liquid black eyeliner for this, the product is the Bourjois Paris: Liner Pinceau 16 Hour

I love this product so much, I've been re-purchasing it for approx 4 years now. I might do a full review on it another time. 

For my lashes I used another Burjois product this one is the Bourjois Paris: Volume Glamour Ultra Curl, as far as mascaras go, I've used better, but this product is really good for my lower lash line, it doesn't get clumpy and gross like others do. I use this every day and its perfect for full natural looking lashes. 

For the colour on my eyes today, I used the Urban Decay Naked 3 Pallet. Its gorgeous, I went for a gold, neutral, pinky look, something soft and not too "focus stealing" as I went for the bold lip. 

 Lips:

There is nothing I can say that is bad about this product, well done Revlon. This is the Revlon Colourburst: Matt Balm in the shade 215 - Shameless. It is a great texture, full colour, it lasts me the whole day with minimum touch ups needed, it stays on through lunch all the way to dinner without going grainy like some lip products do. It is smooth but not 'greasy'. This is one of my statement winter colours.

Last but not least in any way shape or form is...

Nails:

These are my natural nail, they're not fake. The colour that I'm wearing on them today is the Sally Hanson: Diamond Strength, No Chip Nail Colour. in the shade 460 - Save The Date. On top of this I have a top coat, also Sally Hanson. It is the: Sally Hanson: Hard as Nails, Xtreme wear nail colour. in the shade 100 -  Invisible.
