"Makeup of the Day"

A few things you should know about me: 

I am the worst at deadlines.

Makeup makes me happy.

The reason I state those two things is because thats the kind of day I was having today. I didn't intend on posting today because I've got so much uni work to get on top of however, I thought I'd reward my hard work with a study break, in which I'll post this. 

I wear makeup on the daily. Not every day is full blown face photoshop, but I like to look (what I think is) nice when I leave the house. It gives me a little confidence boost to get through my gruelling three hour lessons and general social anxiety. 

Usually for uni I am in a hurry and when I have only 15minutes to get ready I don't usually experiment with makeup. Slap on some foundation and powder, draw on some brows, brush on a few safe neutral shimmer shades on the lids, wing it with the eyeliner, mascara and go. Today was different, I sat at my makeup desk (my regular desk just with makeup sprawled all over) and went for something new. I went for my 'Mattes' palette - new to my collection, I don't usually wear matte shades on the lids but I've been wanting to give them a go. So already I'm in uncharted territory, then I kicked it up a notch by heading for a khaki green shade - uh oh this could get tricky. I surprised myself in what I came out with and that made me happy. I went for a green (almost) smokey eye with light brown instead of black, safe colours yes, but different colours and a texture I wasn't used to. 

I got to uni and headed straight for the café, mumma needs her pick-me-up (large soy mocha - no sugar/sweetener for those who are interested). I was waiting for my coffee and when my name was called the lovely barista handed me my hot cup of heaven and said: "you always look so glamourous". I said in return "I don't feel it." to which she said "well you look it, have a great day" we said our goodbyes and that was it, but that little conversation had truly made my day better - I scurried up to the library to smash out my assignment and decided I'd make a post about my makeup today because at least one person thought I looked nice.

Base/Face:

not my favourite concealer but it does ok - I put it on under my foundation

Favourite face powder have been buying this for years

Blush/Contour/Highlight:

Savvy: Classic Blush - Silky Pink

Love savvy blushes, this gives the cheeks a natural glow and beautiful wash of colour

Savvy: Natural Finish Pressed Powder - 05 Tan

Really easy product to blend out have been liking it as a contour shade rather than a face powder

Benefit Cosmetics: High Beam

A bit tricky to use but gives off a gorgeous glow when applied right. More user error than bad product

Eyes:

Chi Chi Cosmetics: Mattes Palette

New purchase but really liking it so far - its out of my comfort zone but easy to work with, the colours are really pigmented for matte shades. 

 Shade 07: Inner Corner & Brow Bone

Cream white shade - looks really nice on brow bone

Shade 09: Outer Corner / Crease / Transition Colour

Love this shade on its own but looks good as transition colour

Shade 05: Outer Corner

Warm brown, blends very well

Shade 10: Lid Colour

Camo / Khaki green, one of my favourites from the palette 

Bourjois Paris: 16h Liner Pinceau Liquid Eyeliner

My all time favourite liquid liner have been using for years, highly recommend

Benefit Cosmetics: They're Real Mascara

Old favourite, I didn't like it at first but once its been open for a week it gets better. 

Lips:

Rimmell London: Moisture Renew Lipstick - 720 Notting Hill Nude

These are some of my favourite lipsticks of all time. This colour is super on trend at the moment and I'm loving it, especially paired with this eye look. 

Perfume:

I'm putting this in here too as I got a few compliments on what I was wearing:

Kylie Minogue: Darling

One of my favourite scents. 

I'm absolutely rubbish at selfies - and front camera on iPhone isn't the best either - however this was my face today and this is what made me feel good.

Makeup Of The Day and Outfit Of The Day

I haven't done an OOTD for a while and I really liked how I had my makeup for the weekend, so I decided I'd do a little post about what I had on my face and my outfit!

The reason for all the dressing up is that I had two events to go to, and I couldn't just go to one and not the other because I had one of my best girl friends engagement parties to go to (Congratulations Catherine and Sam) and I also had the 21st birthday party of another equally as wonderful friend (Happy Birthday again Zoe) and I was determine to go to both - this however meant I needed one outfit to suit both occasions. Challenge accepted. 

Outfit:

The 21st had a theme to dress to - luckily it wasn't favourite super hero - the theme was black and white. This I could work with - as black and white is quite 'in' in fashion at the moment. 

I found this dress online for $50.00 (On sale down from $150.00) so I snatched that up as soon as I could. It fit both occasions - being black and white, but also 'pretty' enough to be at a slightly formalish garden party engagement setting. 

The purse was a gift from a friend of mine for my 21st birthday (from another friend named Zoe) Its from Forever New and I love it. I use it all the time. 

The shoes I've had for a few years but with something in this style, simple black pumps, they're so chic that they don't go out of style and they go with everything (I was going to wear cherry red heels but thought it might look a bit 'flashy').

Make-up:

I decided to go with a black/white/silver smokey eye and some statement red lips. I felt that this look could be acceptable at both occasions. 

I used a mixture of different pallets to get this look - and to be honest - it isn't really anything special, its really quite a basic look and can be re-created at home by anyone with any black/white/silver eyeshadows.

On my lips, I'm wearing the 'Savvy' Matte Lip Cream in the shade Miss Monroe this is one of my favourite 'liquid lipsticks' and one of my all time favourite red lipsticks. 

Hair:

For my hair, I didn't really have time to do anything special with it, so I just washed it and let it air dry. 

My hair is naturally wavy/curly and because it is ombré at the moment, it looks quite nice when I do nothing with it at all. Which for me is so nice because some days I just can't stand doing anything to my hair because there is so much of it and it is way too time consuming and most of the time I don't have the patience to keep up with it or it doesn't turn out how I want, so for my hair to look this nice when I've barely even brushed it was a massive WIN!

Makeup, Outfit and Mini Review

Hey, so here is another photo of my face, I'm about to tell you the things I have on it, so stay tuned if you're interested. 

Backstory:

Today is my 'lets leave the house and do things because I don't want to stay in the house and do all the things that I have to do' day. I have these often. 

So, I slapped a bunch of products on my face and with a sassy feeling and a strange yet familiar craving for sushi, I left the house. 

I don't really have a foundation 'routine' when I get one, I'll do a post on that. I feel like I don't know enough about foundations to really review them. (TBH I don't know enough about anything to really 'review' them)

Lets get into it. 

Outfit:

Don't mind the clothes all over the floor, they're just victims of the battle that is every day life. 

This is what I wore today. Pretty basic, but I liked it. 

Eyes:

Eyeliner and mascara are the same as usual, Bourjois products for both, there is another post describing them so I won't go into it. 

For eyeshadow, I did't want anything at all really, but I didn't want nothing, so I decided to use two products by ALMAY. Almay is a brand for sensitive skin, now my skin isn't super sensitive, but around my eye area it can be, also, I like these colours.

They're super sheer, but very pretty, I didn't use any primer, but when I do, the colours stand out more. 

The packaging is super cute, they're compact and portable, and I enjoy them.

Lips:

For lips today, because its nice and cold outside, I decided to go with a nice deep/dark red colour. Todays victim is by RIMMEL LONDON.  This is from the Moisture Renew range, I have a few from this range, and I'm quite happy with them. 

This particular one is in the shade 330 - 'Sloane's Plum' I'm not sure who Sloane is, but she has excellent taste in colour. 

The product stays true to its name, it is very moisturising. The product glides on very nicely and doesn't feel 'gloopy' like some lipsticks can. It has very nice coverage and lasts a while. I have had mine on 5ish hours, and in that time, I've been talking non stop, drinking (ice tea) and gorging myself on sushi and it seemed to last, It wasn't as vibrant, it did wear a bit, but the colour turned into more of a lip stain by the end of it. I don't mind when a product comes off after you've eaten something, its when it comes off for no reason at all, I have an issue. Another good thing was that whilst I was eating, the lipstick didn't turn grainy or anything from crumbs or food residue (one of my pet hates)

All in all, a good product, I can't remember how much it cost but knowing me, I probably got it on sale anyway.
