June Favourites

July is well underway and again I'm late with the 'Favourites' post. I've been home sick for the past week that I've just not had the energy for anything. But I filmed and edited it and now I'm up for writing the blog post! There are only a few and I'm going to keep this post short, so I'll just get right to it!

Chi Chi Mattes Palette: This was an honourable mention last month, so I felt because I still love it and I've been using it a tonne anyway I should include it in this months edition of my favourites! I use the middle shade (the dark, dark brown one) for my eyebrows everyday and its my current fave product for my brows. The shade next to it and the following two are my favourite transition shades. The middle of the three is a peachy pink / salmon colour (The photo is making it more orange toned) and I love that for really transitioning the crease colour out and up, for the crease colour I use the camel/tan brown colour (right next to the khaki green), its one of my favourite colours for defined crease work. The first of the three 'transition' shades is great for a subtle brown bone highlight. I also love using the green and the blue for some interesting matte looks. All in all its a great all matte palette!

Savvy Long Lasting Eyeliner: This eyeliner is in the shade Starling and firstly, what an absolutely gorgeous shade. It is such a pretty blue colour and secondly, I LOVE USING THIS! I think this is a fabulous way to incorporate colour into a look with out being "too over the top" even though, I love colour! The staying power on these eyeliners is incredible. It literally wont move, it dries fast and doesn't budge. The application is a little tricky - like most liquid liners but not impossible - obviously. There are other colours in the range - I have the gold, white, purple and blue and I use them a lot. They're very cheap and I recommend them to everyone!

Nude by Nature brush: The brush has no 'official' name - well not written on it anyway. I picked up this brush in a set from Priceline and I use it (the set) all the time. I thought I'd lost this brush a while back, so in my current 'de clutter and clean' mood I've had I was searching through and getting rid of old makeup etc I found it again. I use this for crease work and blending. It is so soft, and perfect for defining the crease and placing transition shades. If you get the chance pick up Nude by Nature brushes from your local Priceline. You won't be disappointed.

Australis Cosmetics Double Decker: I'm not sure if they still make these or not, so I'm sorry if you cant find it. I've been using this product like made recently. This one in particular has a copper pigment underneath the gel/cream base. I have been using it on its own for a soft look and also I've been using it with another favourite of mine….

MAC Cosmetics Fix+: I love this stuff. I don't use it as a face mist so much as adding it with pigments and eyeshadows to give them more umph! I've been spraying my brush then dipping it into the Australis pigment for a more intense look. It gives the colours so much more shine and a real 'foiled' finish which is super on trend at the moment. For a MAC product, I think its really well priced too! I think this is a staple everyone should have in their collection.

Rimmel London Sandaleyes XXTREME Mascara: Besides the wordy name, I've been really digging this mascara! Its wand is the most impressive part. It is one of the rubber / silicone type brushes which I really like, but the interesting thing is that it is good for both length AND volume which is something I think a lot of people will like. The only downside to this mascara is that it can clump quite quickly if you apply too much of it - which you shouldn't need to. It doesn't flake off my lashes either and the formula is not too runny so I didn't need to do the typical 'open and wait a week' like I have to with most mascaras. It is a very black mascara and I'm really enjoying it!



So there you go you beautiful people! Those were my favourites. I hope that the next ones will be on time… Probably not though. (;

Retail Therapy

Its that time of the year again folks… Exam time. 

Ugh, I hate it, even the word 'exam' makes me feel vomity. I had my first exam of the season today and while I think I did ok, I was still feeling pretty average about it. So after the exam, me and my bestie hopped on the good old B10 and headed into the city! 

Destination: Myer Centre Rundle Mall

Targets: Mac and Priceline

Mission: Success

Our first port of call was the MAC counter in Myer. I knew exactly what I wanted to get, so naturally, I looked around, touched and swatched everything and made a mental 'I want' list. Before buying anything, we looked around all the other high end counters. Sarah wasn't sure on what she wanted to get, so I was more than happy to explore with her. The buddy system works even for shopping. 

We went to the mecca section and I fell in love with a Sila palette. Its one of the 'Eyes are the window' palettes and its in the shade 'Soul' - so much lust for that palette. I have decided that I want to save up and get it, the palette in 'Body' is also gorgeous and I want that one also. 

We bumped into a friend of ours whilst in the midst of shopping, she's also a makeup lover and an all around great human being. It was great to see her. 

Time to buy. We went back to MAC and I went over to get what I was after, Fix+. I've been umming and ahhing over it for a while. I really want it for some eyeshadows I have that aren't as pigmented as they could be and for my loose pigments to make it easier to apply. I'm glad I got it. I've been experimenting with it since I got it and I LOVE IT!

After MAC we made our way over to priceline. I also knew exactly what I wanted to pick up, but unfortunately, they didn't have the one I wanted in the shade I wanted, so I picked up this shade instead (also on my list of the ones I wanted). Its a lipstick by Face Of Australia. 

It is one of their 'Lasting Looks Lip Creme' in the shade 'Coral on & on'. It is a beautiful colour. Suited more for spring and summer and not really seasonally appropriate for this time of year, but I've been wearing this on the days that are unseasonably sunny, so that makes it work! 

I love the packaging of this lipstick, its quite chic and elegant, I love the white of the tube and the engraved FOA logo on the metal. It is just a beautiful product and with a price tag of $10.95AUD I think it is very reasonable. These lipsticks also have a beautiful vanilla scent similar (but in my mind better) than the MAC scent. So far I'm liking this lipstick, I'll probably buy more, I'll keep you posted.

This last thing I picked up on a whim(ish) I'd been eyeing it off the last few times I went in to priceline and I noticed it was a new product, and seeing it at the 'first release sale price' made me want to try it even more, so I picked it up. 

It is the 'xxTreme' ScandalEyes mascara by Rimmel London. I mainly wanted to try it because of the applicator. The wand for this product looks so interesting. Its curved which is nice, but there are two types of bristles for two different types of application. One for length and the other for volume. I've used it a few times and I'm really enjoying it.

August Favorites!

My favourite things for the month of August!

Well guys, September is well and truly here and it is time for me to share with you some of the things I have been loving about August.

The majority are beauty related except for one. Lets get started!

This is a portable vibration speaker. This is by the brand 'Yellowsone'. I picked this up from JB Hi-Fi for apporx $10 - $15 a few months ago and of course I used it, but I lost it for a little while and really started using it again in August - it came with me to Melbourne and it was awesome! So compact and easy to travel with. They work when the music device - phone or Ipod etc is placed in direct contact with the speaker - so make sure your phone case is off. (Unless you have an iPhone 4S and place it face down) - thats what I do. 

It is compatible with most phones just wiggle it around to get the best position for the speaker to pick up the vibrations. It takes 3 x AA Batteries and they last for a long time! It is super affordable and portable and such a good idea. They come in a range of different colours and you should be able to get them here. It is going to come in so handy for all the picnics and beach trips that will happen when the weather warms up!

Here we have a Sanctuary Spa Salt Scrub. This, as the name implies is an exfoliating salt scrub, and it leaves you feeling pampered and silky smooth. I use this once a week all over my body when I'm in the bath, I rub it into my skin in small circular motions then let the oils seep into my skin as I sit in a nice hot bath. I come out silky smooth and smelling divine and I still smell like it the next day. I recommend using it all over your body except your face as salt is (in my opinion) too harsh of an exfoliant for your face. If you would like, dip a cotton pad in the oil and rub that into your skin after your face routine. It leaves the face smooth and smelling delicious. This cost $20.00 for 650g and it has lasted a long time. I will be re-purchasing. It is available from Priceline. 

Right here is a Physicians Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls Blush. I've talked about this before in my 'Spring Essentials' Post. Its fantastic. Definitely a favourite. 

There are two favourites here, one is the ALMAY brow pencil. Its one of the twist pencils. It is all I have been using on my brows for months now and I thought it deserved a write up. It goes on so easy and it is kind of a waxy texture once applied and that acts as a gel to hold your brows in place. Love this product. 

The one underneath that is my all time favourite Liquid Eyeliner. Its by Bourjois, its the 16hr liner and it is fantastic. It has such a small, fine brush, you can get the perfect winged liner in seconds. It is so simple to use and I always recommend this to people. 

Two mascara favourites. I apply the Bourjois mascara to my lashes first, that does a great job at adding some curl and definition, then I go over with the Benefit 'They're Real' mascara for added length and volume. I use the Bourjois mascara every day and its great, I never used to like it but it has definitely grown on me. I didn't like the benefit one either, but after a few uses and once I relised that using it along with the Bourjois one would give such amazing results, I'm in love. 

They work so well together. The benefit one was a bit pricey and I was un happy with the purchase when I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but now that I do. I recommend benefit, if you want to treat yourself to a slightly more 'high end' product. 

Vintage Pink; Fancy; Pure Heroine

Three lipsticks have made it into the favourite list this month, two from Rimmel and one from MAC. 

The two from Rimmel are from the moisture renew range and I've talked about this range before, and even the colour 'Fancy' was mentioned in my Spring Essentials post. 

The lipsticks stand true to the 'Moisture Renew' name. They glide on effortlessly and your lips feel instantly moisturised. They're long lasting too which is always something that I like in a lipstick. 

 Colour 180 - Vintage Pink - is exactly how its described. A gorgeous dusty rose pink something that to me, screams 'old hollywood' It is a gorgeous shade that can be worn on the every day basis that can even be worn out at night, its not too pink for the office or school, but its not 'boring' or too nude to be worn to dinner or drinks. Definitely a staple piece.

Fancy is a very pretty baby pink with slight gold toned shimmer through it that makes the lips look natural and innocent and yet when the light hits them, the gold shines and then you honestly do feel a little bit Fancy.

The packaging is perfect, clean and simple. I recommend these colours to all who ask me about what a 'good lipstick' is. They suit all skin tones, and much to my excitement, my friend who read my previous 'Spring Essentials' post went out and bought one of these lipsticks. She has the Vintage Pink and she is quite a few shades paler than I am and it suits her skin tone perfectly.

This MAC lipstick was meant for me. It is the Lorde collaboration with MAC and when I found out about it, I knew I had to have it.

It is a nice dark plum colour, iconic of the young super star singer. I love her music and I love rocking a dark plum lip so when I saw this advertised I needed to have it.

I finally bought it, sadly, we're coming into warmer weather and I might not be able to wear it as much as I would have liked, but as soon as there is a cloudy or dark day, this bad boy is coming out and I'm going to rock it!

The consistency, like all MAC lipsticks is nice and smooth. It has the iconicly MAC vanilla scent which is so pleasant. 

The colour lasts a very long time, however like all dark lipsticks does tend to bleed into the skin, so be sure to use a lip liner before hand to avoid this fashion faux pas!

Packaging is MAC standard. Sleek black tube, classic lipstick. I picked this up for $36.00 at the MAC store and it is also available online at the MAC Cosmetics website!
